Synopsis:
Family drama about rekindling relationships and finding happiness in the simplest of things.
Director: Shilpa Krishnan
In Tashi, I cast Anvita as Priya, a domestic help. It was probably not the most obvious or intuitive casting, because it was a far removed from any of the urban characters that Anvita had played before. But I wanted to give it a shot because I believed that she would be able to pull it off sensitively. And I must say, it was a fascinating experience for me to watch Anvita's process as she got under the skin of the character! We had plenty of rehearsals, but Anvita did her own preparation– talking to and observing other domestic helpers, practising various accents and finding one that works for both her and the character, getting the details of the look and mannerisms right, and even familiarizing herself in and around the house and the kitchen where we shot the film. So much so that it began to feel like she really was a domestic help on the set! I felt that her level of passion, commitment and attention to detail, was commendable and will reflect in the final outcome on screen.

I had the pleasure of working with Anvita for the first time on Lizard On The Wall. Very early into our rehearsals I could see she's a determined, disciplined, intuitive and responsible actor. She was able to process and absorb instructions as per requirement. What’s most important to note is her ability to explore and improvise, making her a flexible artist and allowing herself to give a more layered and nuanced performance. She's collaborative with everyone involved in the filming process and I'd recommend her to anyone on the lookout for a dedicated and talented actor like herself.

Anvita is a genuine joy to work with, and I don't say that about just anybody! More so than just staying committed and passionate about acting, she is always able to bring life and energy to the sets that she works on. She is punctual, responsible, and focused without going to the point of being robotic, which is always a nice balance to have. Unless.. she's actually a robot that's acting human?

I would describe Anvita as a team player and a keen participant. Throughout the filming process Anvita was adaptable to the instructions and conditions with which we filmed. I'm so proud of how she's seized opportunities to learn the craft from every possible angle available to her from crew to cast. I've also seen Anvita grow from strength to strength as an actress. I look forward to how her career will progress.

Director: Sarika Joshi
Anvita has been part of my filmmaking journey from the beginning, with her assisting on my first short film and then going on to act in my second short, Offcourt, and since then the journey has been that of creativity, dedication and professionalism. She was a natural choice for Offcourt, and managed to convey beautifully through her non verbal acting skills the dilemma of homosexuality in a relatively conservation family. Anvita makes every effort to understand the characterization and puts in enough homework and effort to bring those characters to life and allow the director to execute their vision. As an assistant, Anvita is meticulous, full of ideas and committed to making the set work as a team. Given her talent, and positive spunky attitude, I am sure Anvita will go places.

Working with Anvita means working with someone who is hungry - to make and create and to collaborate with a spirit of giving her all. She’s also an incredibly supportive presence that is there for you, the crew, and the story every step of the way. As an actress, her curiosity and compassion for the roles she takes on breathe life and magic on screen. Give her a challenge — I dare you, honestly — and she'll take it up gamely AND slay. Someone with this kind of drive and passion is every director's dream. Period.
